You're on the right track! I started much later than you in the year (got my first bow in September of 2006) and thought the same thing. Nov 7 of 2006 I shot a 4pt. WT buck at 34 yards. Practice hard and be ready for your first encounter. When you get to your first stand setup, visualize how the deer might come in, and then "execute" the shot (in your mind). When will you draw, when will you shoot? Where's you backup lane incase the first doesn't work? Where are you going to aim? Etc. Visualize and then, with luck and the help of a deer, execute!
