Aluminum arrow Wraps on a Carbon arrow?
6 Months, 2 Weeks ago Karma: 1
Please help.....

I just bought some arrow wraps online at a super good price only to find out they were made for Aluminum Arrows. I shoot Gold Tip Carbon arrows.

Are they going to fit?

What's going to be the downside?

Would I just cut them so they don't double wrap?

here is the link: http://www.cabela...601524&hasJS=true

thanks

Good question, I have an idea of where I stand on this issue and I also know that is just through my own reasoning so we will defer to sum1 with more intuition into the area answer definitively, but if you trim them I don't see much of a difference other than it may marginally effect your FOC (front of center) weight. Any wrap is going to do this somewhat but the effects may be more noticeable if the aluminum wraps are thicker or longer for some reason. If you shoot gold tip, you can counteract the effects with inserts that they make specifically for Gold Tip arrows. I do not know if all Gold Tip arrows are equipped qwith this capability but if you are not sure I would PM Jamaro and I bet he would know for sure.

The one thing that I would not do is wrap them as is. If they are made for aluminum arrows there has to be more wrap and if that wrap doubles over the first part of the wrap and not all of it, it seems that the added weight of the double wrapped side as compared to the part that was only covered once by the wrap could cause some uneven weight distribution especially on longer shots. I know that this effects you b/c any guy with footage of a doe taking her last kicks from a well placed arrow at 90 yards need to be cognizant of minute details!

Thanks for the reply.

So, I guess that got me thinking. I never have used wraps, so does everyone that uses a wrap have to mess with their front of center balance?

Does it really effect the arrow that much. Cause if it does, I won't use them. I was just using them for better visibility and looks of course.
