Sight Tapes - how does it work

DBOHunter,
Archer's Advantage does take into consideration some specific manufacturer sight features. It works amazingly for Sure-Loc.

However, for some other sights it does take a little manual effort to get the sight tapes accurately. For example, if you have an HHA Single Pin Sight, Archer's Advantage doesn't give you an option to choose that sight. But you can still enter a "generic sight", and then use calipers to measure your marks. As long as you do that and enter accurate information on the rest of your bow setup, you should have accurate sight tapes. It's that simple!

Anneal,

The software sounds pretty neat and am glad it was right and you were wrong via fat fingering. At least there is some math behind it as you said. I think the greatest advantage of the software would be the sight tape feature. As long as you input your sight and bow information correctly, it will be dead nuts to the yard as long as you set the first point correctly in the field.

How does the sight tape feature work (I haven't listened to that episode yet) does it know THE sight manufacturers specs or are they inserted manually? - dbowhunter

DBO Nails It!

DBO,
I am glad someone with a physics degree set me straight! I was waiting for someone to tell me it was impossible, because it is. The real reason I was showing incorrect data was that I had fat fingered some of my measurements into Archer's Advantage, and therefore the software was telling me the exact truth (based on my incorrect variables). The real point I wanted to make by posing the question I think you already have made - this is a physics equation, and Archer's Advantage can give you completely accurate speeds and sight tapes based on MATH! It truly is one of the coolest archery tools I have ever come across.

So, thanks for making my point, and I hope you guys will give Archer's Advantage a try so you can see just how easy it is to tweak your setup to get the maximum balance between velocity and kinetic energy. We are shooting at animals - it's important.

Energy

That is interesting. I've taken a few physics classes (I have an engineering degree) in my day and that doesn't really make sense. Kinetic Energy =1/2(mass) (velocity) ^2 . Unless the mass chanfes, which it didn't, that is impossible. Unless somehow your calculator is figuring that the arrow out of the katera is slowing down faster than that of the quest. (if that makes sense) But this 2 is impossible as the arrows are identical and once airbourne, the bow has nothing to do with it, assuming the bow is shooting the arrows straight, and the software doesn't know that anyways...

best I can say is double and triple check your inputs, because something is wrong or the forumla the software uses is based on some theorectical numbers not actual physics. - dbowhunter

Arrows are the same

I am shooting the same arrows out of both bows - Easton 340 FMJ's.

Stumped? Let's hear some other hypotheses.
