Posted by Aneal Roney in scoutBackpacking

My wife and two girls and I headed up into the high country of Colorado this past weekend for a family camping trip. For my efforts in loading up my truck with pink camo sleeping bags, Dora the Explorer trikes, 3 different sets of wiffle ball bats and matching balls, 14 extra blankets, special pillows and stuffed animals, and probably a whole lote more crap that I don't remember and we never

John North's 3D Course - Video

Posted by Aneal Roney in 3d shooting3D

Last week I wrote about the 3D course from John North that I had the opportunity to shoot. We shot it again this weekend - here is some footage. I'd be interested to know, based on the shots you see in the video, give it a rating in the comment section 1 (Piece of Cake through 10 (Extremely Challenging). We'd love to hear your opinion:

Product Review - Sure-Loc QC

Posted by Aneal Roney in sure-locQCBill Epeards

Anthony and I first saw the sight when we visited the Sure-Loc booth at the Archery Trades Association (ATA) show back in January. As we did with many of the products we tested and reviewed at ATA, we took notes on each product detailing what was new and cutting edge, and what was not so new. We did the samefor the

BowCast Listener Enjoys FMP Consultation

Posted by Aneal Roney in full moon productionsfmpanthony dixon

Many of you die-hard BowCasters probably know, or will remember when I was somewhat surprised on an Episode of BowCast when Anthony offered up to spend time with anyone who may find themselves in the Salt Lake City area during the off-season and wanted to shoot with him.  As I have been a beneficiary of some consultation on form and technique from Mr. Dixon and the entire FMP team of sharp

Digiscoping 2 - The Denham Pics

Posted by Aneal Roney in western hunter magazinedigiscopingChris Denham

As a continuation to my last post, I not only had the opportunity to talk with Chris Denham (Editor of Western Huner Magazine as well as over 20 years in the Optics industry) about digiscoping - but that conversation led to the next episode of BowCast - we're going to have Chris on to break digiscoping down for all budgets, and answer many of the commonly asked questions (at least the ones

Guess the score

Posted by Aneal Roney in Untagged

We decided at BowCast to break up the spring a little bit, that we would run a couple of contests that you all can participate in.

Below is a picture of a Coues deer shed that was found by BowCast's own Jason Amaro. If you can guess the score on these antlers, you can win a "Nocked and Loaded" DVD from Realtree as well as the new 6 inch color BowCast

It's been awhile since my last blog, but I have a good excuse...I was hunting.

I had the opportunity to hunt with Troy Popplewell who is the IT Manager and development lead here at BowCast. Every piece of content on this site is made available through Troy's web development genius. He keeps the information posted frequently and up to date. In addition

The Need for Speed

The weekend kicked off with a batchelor party for my good friend. We met at Coors Field for a Rockies game, and that ended with about 30 police officers escorting the entire batchelor party out of the stadium....more on that in another blog entry.

I did get some shooting/testing in this weekend. I was thrown for a couple of loops on the range today. Here goes

...Back to the Quest 33.

I took some accurate measurements of my "peep to sight apeture" and "peep to arrow shaft" which is needed to estimate speed in Archery's Advantage (as well as setup sight tapes).  I also updated my Archer's Advantage software so all the specs of the 2008 bows came in (i.e. Hoyt Katera).  This is done by simply clicking

I went down to visit my good buddy (and Archery Guru) Matt Hogue at my local Sportsman's Warehouse in Littleton, CO. We got to work completing the following tasks:

Aneal's 2008 Bow Choice - G5 Quest

As many of you know, I have been shooting a Hoyt for many years now (and I hopefully will continue to shoot a Hoyt for many years to come). Anthony and I and the rest of the BowCast team made a decision this year to shoot and hunt with some of the latest bows out there.

With that being said, I made the decision to commit this year to the latest bow on the market. About

Early Season in the Turkey Woods - Gotta Love It

Posted by Aneal Roney in Untagged

My apologies for a delay in my blog entries...but as you know, I have been in Nebraska hunting public land for Rio Grande Turkey.

Got 3 days in the field under my belt, and despite some unusually rough weather (cold and high winds), and some not so unusual henned up gobblers this early in the season, the dust has shaken off and I am ready to get back out after the mandatory

2008 Turkey Season Prep - Part 6 - Ready to Rock

T minus 3 days.  I got out to the range a few times this weekend.  Friday I never even took my bow out of the case because when I got to the range and got out of my truck, the wind picked up and it was miserable.  Turned right around and headed back to take some shots in my basement range.

Satruday proved to be some decent weather, so I got out and did rounds with
