Pink Arrow Project - Raising Money for Breast Cancer Research

Posted by Jason Amaro in Jason Amaro New Mexicofitnessconservationbowhunting fitness

Jason Amaro

I came across the Pink Arrow Project this week and I really think it is a great way of showing your support for the ladies in your life. I will not proclaim to know all of the statistics but we all know someone has had or has Breast Cancer.

“Whether you shoot with them exclusively or carry one in your quiver as a sign of support, an all-pink arrow designed by Victory Archery just might end up bagging one of the world’s largest and most deadly predators---breast cancer.

The idea to offer and all-pink arrow designed to benefit breast cancer research came about last summer, at the International Bowhunting Organization National Triple Crown in Erie, Pennsylvania. It was there that Christa Lawhorn, wife of Victory Archery General Manager Bart Lawhorn, glimpsed some pink arrows made by Bart, being used by a Victory Staff Shooter. Christa, a nurse who has worked with many cancer patients, immediately saw the potential to benefit those patients by making the striking arrows available to everyone willing to support the cause.

The National Breast Cancer Foundation will receive a large portion of the profits from the project that is being headed by Mary Hale of Tennessee, a cancer survivor and longtime 3-D archer who had to give up the sport in 1999 when she was stricken with cancer. She will be showing off the arrows and answering questions at the 2008 ATA Show, in the Victory Archery booth.
“What I’m hoping is that this project will bring more life to archery, give us something to work for and be proud of.” Hale said.” I had just a 15-percent chance of making it; archery gave me a purpose, and this has allowed me to give back, and has brought a new meaning to my life.” Hale said.

“The Pink Arrow Project is about making money for cancer, not (simply) making money,” Hale said. “I realize that companies have to make money, but there are also good things that happen when we give, and Bart Lawhorn is not going into this to make money. That’s the way we want to keep it, it’s got to be about giving, not receiving”

“The Pink Arrows are available in all sizes of the VForce arrows and shafts. Bohning Archery is also helping by contributing white Double lock Blazer Nocks and Blazer Vans in white and hot pink. They are also available in other models as custom orders only.“

BowCast brothers and sisters,

Please don't take this as a solicitation, but I thought I would share with you the emergency feeding operation that is going on in SW Colorado.  They have had many feet of snow down there this winter, and the Colorado Division of Wildlife (CDOW)  is rallying with some emergency feed operations to take care of the wildlife in that corner of the state .
