RELATIVE STRENGTH

So size matters, but is bigger necessarily better? More importantly, is bigger always stronger? NO! Strength is not determined by larger bulky muscle bellys, rather it is based upon the efficiency of the neurological pathways. This is a paradigm shift from what you see in bodybuilding magazines and some guys at the local gym. Bowhunters must be concerned with RelativeStrength…you need to have a purpose for every pound on your body and must be strong for that given body weight. I think Relative Strength is perhaps better termed “Positive power-to-weight ratio.” I really have encouraged a lot of hungry bowhunters towards integrating relative strength movements (pull-ups, dips, and push-ups) with their big lifts such as deadlifts, squats, and bench.

Perform This Workout: 2 Burpees, 4 Hand Stand Push-ups, 6 Pull-ups, and 8 Push-ups for five rounds and note your time. This will test your strenght to body weight ratio...

I have recently switched to this style of training. I used to do weight training, bodybuilding style, and running to stay fit. I recently purchased and started following Core Performance training. But, I have to ask, what in the world are "burpies?" smilies/cry.gif

I recall burpies during football practice. What we called burpies is a 4 count drill. Count 1: go from standing postion down to a crouch with hands in front and on ground, Count 2: put weight on hands and kick legs backward (similar to being at the top of a pushup position). Count 3: return to crouch position. Count 4: return to original position (standing up). 1,2,3,4; 2,2,3,4; 3,2,3,4 etc. I remember them well.

Dan is this even close to what you are calling burpies?
