I was born in May of 1990, here in Oregon. I grew up in Prineville, where hunting and fishing was second nature from the time I could walk. Both my parents love the outdoors, and spent time teaching me everything they know. From the time I was four, every fall found me out, jumping from boot print to boot print of my father’s in chase of big bulls. Although I was never much into gun hunting, I got my first tag at age 12, a rifle deer tag. Even at that age I knew the crowds of people, and hoards of road hunters wasn’t for me. So ever since then, both dad and I have been chasing public land animals, bows in hand. My first year of bowhunting, at age 13, I missed the biggest bull I have had a chance at to date, a 320” 5x5. I learned a lot from that experience, and although it still hurts to this day, I know I gained more knowledge by missing, than I did had I connected. At age 14, I took my first big game animal, a cow elk, which was a repeat the next year. In 2006, I was able to draw a coveted mule deer tag, and shoot a 4x4 muley, my first. This past season, after 3 painstaking years of hard work and dedication I was finally presented with a shot at an Oregon Pronghorn, and made good of the opportunity by connecting with the 9” public land goat. As a bonus, my mom was right there in the blind with me! Every time I go to a 3-D shoot or take a trip to woods, it’s back to the classroom for me. That’s what I love about bowhunting, every time out I learn to be a better bowhunter and person. I can’t help but thank my amazing parents for opening my eyes to my passion that has taught me more about life, than anything else, other than them. Whether it’s bass fishing in the summer, or shed hunting in the spring, I’m always in the outdoors. I played baseball all four years at high school. I love to write, and love photography. To me it’s just as good to get the shots that tell the story, as it is when you can compose a fluid article. I also love to go backpacking and mountain biking. I spent my high school time at Bend Senior High, where I graduated in 2008. My plans for the future are to spend one year at the local Oregon State University campus, then next year attend OSU in Corvallis. Feel free to send me an email with any comments, or questions! Keep it in the pocket~ Joe

Well, the recent attempts for geese have been of zero success....the weather has really changed the habits and moved the geese from the permissions I had, but we still got out there and tried...launched some arrows and came up with nothing. Got some good pics though, so I thought Id share.
