John North's 3D Course - Video

Posted by Aneal Roney in 3d shooting3D

Last week I wrote about the 3D course from John North that I had the opportunity to shoot. We shot it again this weekend - here is some footage. I'd be interested to know, based on the shots you see in the video, give it a rating in the comment section 1 (Piece of Cake through 10 (Extremely Challenging). We'd love to hear your opinion:

Love the course, Looks hard and fun. The harder the better for me. The more challenging a course is only going to increase your thought process and ability in the field. SWEEEEEEEEEEEET. Love the mule deer shot at 60 Degrees. I have always wanted to shoot a deer over a cliff like that.

4 inch vanes

Yep...I am still using the 2.25 inch ST's from NAP. The arrows you saw me shooting was a quick stop and cut stop at Sportsman's Warehouse on the way up to the course. I had just recently switched from Easton FMJ 340's to 400's, and I wasn't quite dialed in with the 400's. So I picked up some pre-fletched 340's so I can shoot the course. As a side note, I am going to be trying to compare the Bohning Blazers to the NAP Speed Hunters to see which I like better with my new setup - my mind should be made up by July.

Jason - I gotta say, my knees always shake a bit on that shot. It's a long way down!

Yeah Baby, Yeah!! I like what you say on the video about pushing yourself on these 3-D courses. Nice graphics on the intro! What are you using to measure the angle of the shot? Is that something I can get at Sportsman's Warehouse? It looks like it's glued or taped to your range finder.

OAT Slope Shot
written by aroney, July 01, 2008
Toasteo,
You are right. The Slope Shot is an inclinometer that is fastened to your range finder. You push a button on it to lock a pin to give you a measurement of angle. Then you can use a print off of a customized "cheat sheet" based on your setup that will tell you what to cut off (or add on) based on the angle and distance of the shot.

Here is the OAT website for more information:
