Road Trippin'Posted by Dan Staton in Untagged |
Well, I feel like I've been living out of a suite case
the last few weeks as I've been in Alaska for a pair
of weeks, then off to Cedar City, UT for
videography/editing lessons, and then onto the
Bitterroots for some bear hunting...I've tried to stay
CrossFitting, Running, and getting my bow drawn
back in the middle of all this traveling.

Staying in good shape is not only part of my lifestyle,
but it's really in my job description as an a strength
and conditioning coach. I am not the world's greatest
runner, but I do like to compete so ramping up for an
x-dog trail run race in Oregon was definitely a
motivational factor. I managed to sneak some
miles in UT at 6,000 ft and I also ran several times
at bear camp in the middle of the Bitterroots which
kept my lungs large. I think fitness boils down to doing
a handful of things each day that you don't want to do.
For example, saying no to the snooze button, bringing
food from home to work instead of a fast food lunches,
pushing the pace in a workout when there's no gas
in the tank, going to bed early, etc ...needless to say,
we all have a common thread of love for wildlife,
bowhunting and the mountains! Accept your
motivation, take your medicine because I am here
to tell you that I just got back from some of Idaho
and Montana's steepest and deepest country and
the bulls and bucks are there, up high by the fresh
green-up walking their trails, bedding on their
ridges, and feeding on their slopes while we sit
at a desk all day. TRAIN! I'll continue to keep
updates on how the training is going and how
we can make sure 2008 is the best season yet.
