BowCast - Episode #55 - How Far is he? - A Discussion on Rangefinders PDF Print E-mail
User Rating: / 0
Sunday, 13 July 2008

Podcast Description

Range finders are nothing new to the bowhunter. We've used them for years, but the technology is really starting to push the envelope. A number of manufacturers are improving the optics, look and feel, durability, and price of the typical range finder. Add in features such as angle compensation, and it is easy to start getting "lost" in the price versus functionality decision. We at BowCast want to help you through some of the technical considerations of choosing a range finder.

Aneal and Anthony are joined on this episode by CJ Davis, PR Director for Nikon Sport Optics. While CJ does a ton to promote and market Nikon products to all of us hunters, it is surprising to learn that CJ is also involved with product development, field testing, and final production for Nikon optics. For those of you looking to learn how the guts of a range finder works as well as the questions you should be asking your local pro shop related to Range Finders, this episode covers the gamut. Included in the discussion:

1) How does a range finder work?

2) What are the effective ways to carry a range finder?

3) What is the price and functionality spectrum for a typical range finder?

4) What questions should you have answered before going to a store to purchase a new range finder?
