BowCast - Episode #49 - Half Time! - 5 tips to ensure victory in the fall! PDF Print E-mail

Podcast Description

"I firmly believe that any man's finest hour, the greatest fulfillment of all that he holds dear, is that moment when he has worked his heart out in a good cause and lies exhausted on the field of battle - victorious." - Vince Lombardi

For those of us who have played a little football in our time (or even enjoy watching it) we all know the importance of a good half time speech. Whether you're behind in the game, tied up, or even winning - A coach's half time speech will almost inevitably echo the fact that the first half means nothing, and to ensure a victory it is all about what you do in the last two quarters. Focus and poise in the last two quarters will ensure the scoreboard is tipped in your favor when time runs out.

Well boys and girls - as archery hunters, we are in the home stretch. We're half way through the year, and the last two quarters are ahead of us. On the last day of the deer season when you are sitting in your stand, will you KNOW that you did everything possible and you have given a 100% to give yourself the best opportunity at killing your quarry?

On this episode, Anthony and Aneal cover 5 points that must be focused on from here through the first day of your hunting season. Ensure that week in and week out that you are spending time on one of these 5 points, and you will KNOW you adequately prepared and have that "greatest fullfillment" that Coach Lombardi speaks of in the quote listed at the beginning of these show notes.

Podcast Description

We are nearing the World Premiere of the third movie from Full Moon Productions (July 26, 2008). For those of us who are familiar with the hardcore and "edgy" attitude from the Full Moon Productions crew with movies such as "360" and "The Ride", the anticipation of what these bad boys are going to come up with next is almost unbearable.

Want to know what to expect in the next FMP movie? If you are not familiar with the types of movies FMP produces, would you like to know more about what makes FMP movies so "different"?

Anthony spills at least some of the beans on what he and the FMP team have been working so long on - the 3rd Movie (Title to be released at a later date). Here are some of the items Anthony covers (after a little prodding from Aneal):

- Who is in the movie?

- What types of species are hunted in the movie, and where?

- Why is Anthony's father in the movie?

- Who is "Porky" and why is he arguably the biggest buck ever killed by a bow on video?

- What is different in the 3rd movie from past FMP films? What's the same?

- What can an attendee of the FMP Wolrd Premiere event expect?

Podcast Description

"To me, photography is the simultaneous recognition, in a fraction of a second, of the significance of an event. " - Henri Cartier-Bresson

We talk a lot about what we can all do year round to give us Bow Hunters the greatest opportunity for success with big game in the fall. We workout, we shoot a lot of arrows, we tune our bow setup, and of course - we scout the areas we plan to hunt in the fall.

Over the last several years, there has been tremendous technological advancements in the #1 tool to help you scout and understand the game in your area - the game or trail camera.

What do I need to know about effectively using a game camera?

What's the best direction to face a game camera? East? West?

What height should you set a game camera at?

What is better - flash or infared?

How do you match a camera (and price point) to the type of scouting you are doing?

What information can be obtained by "reading" a game camera photo?

How much memory do you need in your trail camera?

How do I secure my investment in a camera from possible theft?

What types of batteries should I use in my trail camera?

BowCast is joined by Danny Baugher. Danny has focused the last 7 years of his life on utilizing game cameras effectively as a variable to bow hunting success. Danny has over 20,000 game photos in his library - all coming from game cameras that he has hung in his scouting efforts. Get answers to all of your questions around game cameras and learn how to effectively use this tool to find out where that big buck lives!
