Podcast Description

We all have seen typical turkey hunts on TV and video. Hell, we even have received some tips on how to call and how to setup on Turkey. On this episode, BowCast raises the bar by bringing on Chris Roe - a certified wildlife biologist and admitted turkey fanatic. Here are some of the questions Chris answers on this episode:

Will hens strut?

Is it normal for jakes to run in bachelor groups?

Why do turkeys "shock" gobble?

Why do turkeys gobble?

Will a jake take on a tom in a fight?

...and many more....

Chris Roe is a pro-staffer for both Primos Hunting Calls and PSE Archery. What will be very apparent to all of you after this episode is Chris is a professionally certified wildlife biologist, and runs his own wildlife management and consulting company - Roe Ecological Services which is based in Berthoud, CO. Chris works on a wide variety of wildlife conservation and management issues ranging from routine wildlife surveys for development projects, to large-scale, comprehensive wildlife and habitat management plans for property owners. Chris's specialty is the understanding, and utlization, of wildlive behavior to maximize the success of their wildlife and habitat management plans and projects. Besides his wildlife expertise, Chris also has a background in both range management and forest management.

Although experienced in a variety of game species, his real passion is in elk and turkey hunting. On this episode, Chris shares some insights and stories from the field that we will all be thinking about when we take the turkey woods in 2008 (just a few weeks away!).
